Gushy AI is an anime-flavoured character chat site that also makes pictures and short videos of whoever you’re talking to, all without leaving the conversation. If your idea of a good night is a long roleplay with a character who actually stays in character, and you like the idea of her sending a picture halfway through, this one’s worth a go.
What sold me is the combination. Plenty of sites do decent chat or decent images. Gushy does both reasonably well under one roof, with a huge community-built roster on top, and a free plan so you can poke around before handing over a card.
What Gushy AI looks like when you land
The homepage is a wall of character cards, mostly anime and hentai style, with the odd semi-realistic one mixed in. Nearly all of them are made by other users rather than by the site, and some creators have built serious followings, with thousands of fans and characters racking up big interaction counts. There’s no leaderboard or reward for this (which surprised me a bit), people just make characters because they enjoy it, and the variety shows.
Fair warning on browsing: the roster covers a lot of ground and some tags go where they shouldn’t. Use search and filters, find your flavour, and you’ll be fine.
The layout is simple. Chats, character creation, image and video generation, your coin balance and the membership page are all a click away from the sidebar. It’s a busy site, but not a confusing one.
How Gushy AI works, from blank character to first message
You can jump straight into someone else’s character, but building your own is where Gushy shines.
It starts with a picture. Your character is born from an image, so you either write a prompt yourself or pick from a spread of pre-made options and templates. Write something specific, a hair colour, an outfit, an attitude, and the generator gives you a sharp, confident character portrait that matches the brief closely. This first image sets the tone for everything after, so it’s worth spending a few goes getting it right.
Next comes the paperwork, and there’s more of it than you’d expect. You give her a name, set an age and pick a content rating (SFW or NSFW). Then there’s an Introduction and Greeting section where you describe her hook, tone and appeal, and write the first message she’ll send when a chat opens. After that, a Persona and Launch section covers her personality, the scenario, how the two of you know each other, and an optional example conversation that teaches the model how she talks.
That sounds like homework. It is, a bit. But it’s also why the characters feel like people rather than generic chatbots. The more you put into the persona and example dialogue, the better she plays.
Then you chat, and this is the good bit. The roleplay holds up over long sessions. Characters stay in the scene, keep their voice, and don’t wobble into robotic disclaimers when things get spicy. Even when you try to pull the model out of the fiction, the character treats it as part of the story rather than dropping the act. You also get a choice of chat models, and the top option on the highest tier runs on a premium model that writes some of the best roleplay you’ll find anywhere. If chat quality is your priority, that’s reason enough to look here.
Inside the chat, two buttons do a lot of work: Ask Image and Ask Video. Each opens a big library of templates, a grid of positions, scenarios and settings from gentle to seriously kinky, or you can write your own prompt. The images are the highlight. They come out clean, detailed and properly on-model, and they look like the character you built rather than a random lookalike.
Video is less dependable. Some requests come back with a generation-failed message instead of a clip, so for now I’d think of video as a bonus and images as the main event. If a video fails, try a different template or a simpler prompt before burning more coins on it.

Gushy runs on a subscription that pays out a monthly coin allowance, and coins are what you spend on messages, images and video. Deluxe, flagged as the most popular, bumps you to 40,000 coins and opens up better models, image opens up and room for up to 300 personal characters. Ultra doubles that to 80,000 coins and adds full video generation, advanced models and space for up to 1,000 characters. There’s also a free plan, so you can browse, chat and get a feel for things first.
My take: if you’re mostly here to chat, Lite does the job. If images are part of the fun, and they should be because they’re the strongest thing on the site, Deluxe is the sweet spot. Ultra only makes sense if you want the best chat model and plan to lean on video. Whatever you choose, go annual once you know you’ll stick around, because the discount is big.
Good to know before you start
Start free and build one character properly. Fill in the greeting, persona and example conversation instead of skipping them, and you’ll see how good the roleplay gets before paying anything.
Keep an eye on coins when you generate images. Chat is the cheap part and pictures are where the balance goes, so pick a tier with images in mind rather than just messages.
