Every ranking on this site is produced the same way, whether it is a Top 20 of AI porn generators or a shortlist of free undress apps. This page describes the process so you can decide how much weight to give our numbers.
The six criteria
Each tool receives a score from 0 to 10 on six criteria. The overall score is the weighted average.

Weights are the same across categories, but the meaning of a criterion adapts to the category: “output quality” for a roleplay chatbot means memory and character consistency, not image realism.
Provisional versus editorial scores
A tool enters the database with facts only: pricing, free plan, platforms, feature flags, status. From those facts we compute a provisional score. It is labelled prov. everywhere it appears and is meant to order the list sensibly until a person has tested the tool.
After a hands-on review an editor sets the six sub-scores. The provisional score is replaced, the label disappears and the review date is shown on the tool page. We never display a “tested” or “reviewed” date for a tool that has not been reviewed.
How positions are decided
Within a category, tools are ordered by overall score. Ties are broken by output quality, then by features. A tool appears in a category ranking only when it genuinely offers that capability; being tagged by a third-party directory is not enough on its own.
Fact checks
Price, free plan, platforms and availability are re-checked continuously. Each tool page shows the date of the last check. If a service goes down, redirects or disappears, its status changes to Unstable, Redirected or Discontinued, a warning is shown, and discontinued tools are removed from rankings while their page stays for reference.
Money
Some outbound links are affiliate links. A commission never changes a score or a position, and tools without an affiliate program are ranked by exactly the same rules. Details are in the affiliate disclosure. We do not sell placements, “featured” slots inside rankings, or sponsored scores.
