How a Dream Companion chat actually plays out
You can open a chat without much ceremony. Sign-in runs through Google or Discord, or an email address, and the core features are free. Pick a card and the character opens with a scene. You might be bumping into a stranger on a crowded street, or waking up on a beach next to a fellow survivor asking how your head is. You’re in the story from line one, which I love. No “hey, how are you today” small talk.
From there it plays like tabletop roleplay with a very willing partner. Put your actions between asterisks and they render in italics, so dialogue and movement stay separate. The characters respond in kind. They’ll tease, act coy, describe what they’re doing, and they hold their personality while things escalate. The writing reads like someone who knows their way around erotica rather than a bot filling in a template. For a text-first product, that’s the whole ballgame.
Ask for a photo mid-chat and the image lands in the conversation a few seconds later. There’s also a standalone generator if you’d rather just make pictures. The images look good, but they don’t always respect the scene. Your island castaway might turn up in a bedroom. Treat the pics as a bonus and not as a continuity engine, and you’ll be happy.
Every message has a play button to hear it read aloud. You can tell it’s synthetic, but it’s a long way from the tinny robot voices on most rivals. It adds a nice layer when you’re deep in a scene.
The character creator is the real reason to sign up
This is where Dream Companion earns its spot. Most sites give you either click-through menus or a blank prompt box. This one gives you both.
You start with the basics: name, age, ethnicity and eye colour, typed in or randomised. Then you go through menus for hair, body type, proportions, outfit and personality. That includes sliders for things like power dynamics and how outgoing she is. An optional text box lets you add quirks, traits and backstory.
Then it asks you to actually write. The scenario page has fields for her role, your role in relation to her, the setting, and her opening greeting. If you put effort in here, it pays off, because this is exactly why the premade characters feel fleshed out too. Plenty of sites nail one half of this, but having the quick menus and the deep prompts together is rare. It’s the thing I’d sell to any roleplay fan.
It’s also the same reason these characters feel richer than on most mainstream AI girlfriend sites. The only places that go deeper are the hardcore anime roleplay platforms, and those usually make you do all the typing from scratch.

Save your coins for moments that matter. Asking for a pic at the peak of a scene beats burning your allowance on the first few messages. Expect the generated setting to wander a bit.
