Straight up: when we went to read Tingo’s pages, tingo.ai was throwing a server error and showing nothing but an error screen. So this isn’t a tour of a working product. It’s a quick look at what Tingo offered, and where I’d point you if you wanted that kind of AI girlfriend today.
Sites go down, and sometimes they come back. But I’m not going to describe clicking around something none of us could open, and I’m not going to tell you to hand over card details to a page that’s broken. If it loads for you and looks healthy, great. If it doesn’t, keep reading.
What Tingo was going for
Tingo sold itself as a one-click AI girlfriend. The pitch was a companion you shape yourself: customise her look, set her personality, and decide what kind of relationship you’re in. Honest assessment of the concept: it was a pretty standard companion setup. Nothing wrong with standard, but it meant Tingo was competing on price and polish rather than on some feature nobody else had.
How the Tingo setup worked
From what the site described, the flow was short. You started a companion, picked how she looked, tuned her personality, chose the relationship type, and then went into chat. That’s it. No big roster tour or template catalogue is on record, so the customisation was the whole show.
What we can’t tell you is how any of it actually played out: how well she remembered what you’d said, how far the roleplay went, or whether the personality settings really changed the conversation. That’s normally what I’d weigh a companion app on, and with the pages down, there’s nothing to go on.
Plans and price structure
Tingo ran on a subscription, and it sat at the cheap end of the category, which was a genuine point in its favour. There was no free plan on record, and whether a trial existed is unknown. Plan names and what each tier opened up would normally be on the pricing page, and that page wasn’t loading either. The current price, if the live data still has one, shows next to this review.
A budget subscription is only good value if the thing works, though, and right now that’s the open question.
Where I’d go instead of Tingo
If what drew you to Tingo was a customisable AI girlfriend without spending much, there are working options that do the same job and more.
FYF is the obvious first stop because it has a free plan, so you can see whether the chat clicks for you before paying anything. That’s the easiest no-risk way into this whole category.
Nextpart AI is a good pick if you want your companion to lean properly into adult chat rather than warming up slowly. It’s still at the more affordable end of the market.
Naughti AI goes the other way from Tingo’s build-her-yourself approach: hundreds of ready-made characters and scenarios, so you can jump straight into a chat instead of configuring one from scratch.
Dreamswipe adds image generation on top of the girlfriend chat. If you liked Tingo’s idea but wished you could actually see her, that’s the upgrade.
