What CharFriend offered
CharFriend pitched itself as an unfiltered NSFW chatbot platform. The idea was simple: you picked from a variety of AI characters and had personalised, no-filter conversations with them. GirlfriendGPT has a free plan, which is the big difference from CharFriend. You can try the chat and see whether the writing clicks before spending a thing. That alone makes it a smarter starting point for most people.
Erogen also has a free plan and adds voice features and more spontaneous interactions, so if you found text-only chat a bit flat, this is where to level up.
Good to know before you switch
Start with a free plan. Since CharFriend never had one, you’re already better off trying GirlfriendGPT or Erogen free and only paying once you know you like how the characters write.
Look for a big roster if variety was the draw. Library size is where SpicyChat really shines, and it means you won’t run out of characters in a week.
Decide whether you want text only or more. If plain chat was exactly your thing, SpicyChat or ChatFAI will feel familiar. If you want voice on top, Erogen is the move.
